The Media Vault
Our Firelock Vault is specifically designed to protect your vital records. As
the name Firelock indicates, the damage from a fire is "locked out" and your
vital records and media tapes are "locked in" an environment that is magnetically shielded,
vapor tight, climate controlled and dust and moisture free. The storage
chambers of the vault were engineered to protect magnetic media, direct
access storage devices, electronic format archives, pharmaceutical and health
records, motion picture film and animation libraries, research libraries,
government archives, intelligence gathering, and defense information.
A ceramic fiber is used in the wall sections of the vault to provide
protection against fire and heat. This fiber has received the ultimate test
as it is used in the construction of the space shuttle
it is no small wonder that the Firelock
Vault system has more assets secured in its records vaults than any other
vault system in the world.
Security
Our firelock vault offers an independent
media tape storage facility within our
warehouse which provides a class 350, four hour paper and a class 125 two
hour media safe environment for the protection of your vital records. The
vault is locked 24 hours a day and has it's own climate and humidity control
systems.

Climate Control
The data vault's self contained air conditioning unit maintains a
temperature of 71 degrees. The vault temperature is checked with an external
measurement apparatus twice daily and is monitored 24 hours a day. The system
meets or exceeds the temperature and hourly limits detailed in NFPA (National
Fire Protection Assoc.)75 "Protection of Electronic Computer/Data Processing
Equipment".
Humidity Control
The quality of air is regulated within the data vault to maintain a
dust-free, moisture-free environment for media tape storage and the relative humidity level is
maintained at below 30% on a consistent basis. These are necessary
requirements for effective and safe media tape storage. There is no water in our data vault
and the air quality is confirmed on a minute-by-minute basis and calibrated
on a special paper disk.
Fire Suppression
As an added safeguard for your media; our vault contains an
environmentally-friendly, superior fire
suppression system. This redundant system insures the integrity of your data
even in major catastrophic occurrences.
Vault Construction
Our Firelock vault is constructed with a unique insulating core that
remains dry and inert, even during exposure to a 2000ºF fire (Insulation is the same as that used by NASA, in the construction of
the Space Shuttle). The door assembly is made up of both an outer vault
door and an inner door to give a thermal break between the doors to suppress
heat.
Many media vaults available today are constructed from
concrete. Concrete vaults are water based. In the event of a fire, they emit
steam into the vaults interior which destroys sensitive media within minutes.
Our firelock vault is designed and tested to ensure your sensitive media is
safe until the fire is extinguished. The rating for our Firelock vault meets
the demanding standards set by the NFPA (National Fire Protection
Association). It is the highest rated fire protection environment for media
storage available.
The Difference
Most media vaults are designed on the basis that the possibility of a
fire is remote. Our vault is designed to protect your media in the event
a fire does occur. |
